Not long from now, KDE Forum will start it’s Klassroom sessions.
What is it about?
Each Klassroom session will be held with a pre-defined aim. It would help all participating users to make use of existing documentation and guidance from “Mentors” to work on small projects related to:
- Coding
- Documentation
- Artwork
- Translation etc.
Who are the mentors?
Following are the mentors who will be starting the Klassroom sessions:
How do I participate?
So if you always wanted to contribute to KDE but didn’t know how to, here’s the best chance for you! And if you’re feeling confident enough already, don’t forget to subscribe to the Klassroom as soon as the first one is out.
You can find the official announcement here.

I’m a nosy bugger, pardon me.
Why is there a need of any sort of classroom on a forum? Shouldn’t IRC be the best place for a classroom. Like there is ##beginners-classroom for Ubuntu Forums, you guys could do something like ##kde-classroom and carry out everything there.
That way, a user can better interact with the mentors.
Many reasons:
1. The forums would have a wider audience than IRC.
2. Forums would eliminate time barriers and anyone from anywhere (geo) can participate.
3. Having Klassrooms on the forums would leave us with valuable documentation there. Having them on IRC would additionally need shifting of everything to the wiki (if applicable).
For now, it’s just a try to see if it works out. If not, we always will have the conventional method as an alternative
